Where is your practice located?

The Chigwell practice is located on 140 Tomswood Hill, Chigwell (Ilford) Essex, IG6 2QP.

Are you an NHS or Private practice?

We provide both NHS as well as a comprehensive range of Private and cosmetic dentistry, which includes a consult oral maxillofacial surgeon and a specialist in surgical dentistry and Invisalign (invisible tooth straightening).

What treatment is covered under the NHS?

The amount you will have to pay depends on the treatment you require. Each treatment is categorised into one of three pricing bands set by the NHS for England and Wales. For further information please see our treatment cost page.

How do I become a patient at your practice?

There are three ways for you to join. You are able to complete online registration [click here], call the practice directly 020 85506789 (Chigwell Practice) or 020 85551144 (Stratford Practice), or alternatively drop in at one of our practices.

What facilities do you provide for wheelchair users?

Both our practices are fully facilitated with wheelchair access. Our Chigwell Practice is at ground floor level with a disability ramp into the building; whilst our Stratford practice has a chair lift providing easy access to the surgery. All surgeries have wide doors and We have a comprehensive disability compliance policy.

I am student. Do I have to pay?

If you are 19 or above and in full time education, you may be entitled to reduced costs. You need to come into the practice to collect a HC2 form. This form needs to be completed by you and sent to the Health Authority who will then assess your income and personal savings to see if you are eligible to receive a HC1 Certificate.

I require an emergency appointment, what should I do?

If you are an existing NHS patient, under a current course of treatment with the practice you will not be charged an emergency fee. However, if the emergency is unrelated to the course of treatment you are undertaking an NHS fee of £17 (2011) will be charged.

What would you recommend for healthy teeth and good oral hygiene?

It is important to brush your teeth twice a day using fluoridated toothpaste, and floss and use mouthwash daily. Prevention is always better than cure! Our dentists recommend certain products which can be purchased at our practices. It is also essential that you attend checkups with your dentist regularly.

I am a nervous patient, how can you help?

Our friendly team of dentists and staff strive to provide the upmost level of care and comfort to all our patients. They will always do their best to make you feel at ease however nervous you may be. What should I do if I have bad breath?

It is important to carry out good oral hygiene techniques, as well as regularly visiting your dentist. Using a mouthwash and drinking water regularly helps to reduce the problem.

What can I do if my teeth are stained or discoloured?

Tooth whitening and deep cleaning (prosmile) are extremely good ways of reducing the discolouration of teeth, which may be a result of age, coffee, tea, red wine or smoking. Our practice offers a range of tooth whitening and deep cleaning techniques. Prosmile is a deep cleaning advanced stain removal system. This is the perfect treatment for instant whitening, with fantastic results. These treatments are not available on the NHS.

What is cosmetic dentistry? How can cosmetic dentistry improve my confidence and smile?

The aim of cosmetic dentistry is to improve the overall aesthetics of your smile. It uses a variety of procedures such as teeth whitening, veneers, crowns, dental bridges, and invisible braces (Invisalign) to achieve this. A beautiful smile in itself can have numerous effects on an individual’s self esteem, confidence and personal relationships. Our practice also offers facial rejuvenation in the form of a non-surgical facelift through a combination of derma fillers and Anti wrinkle treatment.

What is a dental implant and in what circumstances would I need one?

A Dental implant is an artificial replacement of the root portion of your natural tooth. Implants are made from titanium which integrates well with your bone tissue. You may need an implant to replace a single missing tooth or multiple teeth. At our Chigwell practice we have an oral surgeon who specialises in implant surgery.

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign® is one of the latest advancements in orthodontics where by a series of clear, removable aligners are used to straighten the alignment of your teeth in the same way that conventional braces do.
